Gay marriage must be accepted in all of Mexico
Supreme Court says Mexico city's unions must be recognized throughout all of Mexico
Supreme Court ruled that the same-sex marriages that take place in Mexico City must be recognized in all of Mexico. This does not mean that other states must legalize same-sex marriages, however.
Uruguay and Argentina are the only two countries that have accepted gay marriage nationwide in Latin America. Although it is accepted in Mexico City, same sex marriage is still a foreign idea to the rest of the country.
Two of the 11 judges voted against this measure, but the Supreme Court intends to move forward. The next issue at hand will be whether or not same-sex couples may adopt.
