Michelle Obama, the wife of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, co-hosted ABC's "The View" on Wednesday.
Obama joined "The View" cast of Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who grilled Barack in March about his association with controversial minister, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
Obama has been painted by many conservative media outlets as an unpatriotic, angry black woman. While on "The View", Obama succeeded in showing her more personal side.
Obama lauded Sen. Hillary Clinton for breaking down gender barriers during her presidential campaign. "Yes, there’s always a level [of sexism]," she said. "People are not used to strong women."
"And I think that Hillary Clinton, as she said, has made 18 million cracks on the ceiling and we need to keep pushing it and pushing it," continued Obama.
Obama offered no favorites for her husband's selection of a running mate for vice president, dodging the question of whether Clinton was high on the list. "The one thing the nominee earns is the right to pick the vice president that best reflects the needs of the country," said Obama. "I’m just glad I have nothing to do with it."
Obama, 44, would become the nation's first African American first lady if her husband wins the White House bid in November, and one of the youngest since Jacqueline "Jackie" Kennedy.
