The death toll in China’s mudslides reached 1,117 this
week and is expected to keep rising as rescue workers continue to uncover
bodies buried in mud and debris. So far, 1,243 people have been rescued. At least
627 are still missing.
Heavy rains and flooding triggered the landslides in
Zhouqu County in Gansu province on Sunday.
