Japanese ‘Cannibal Nerd’ Executed in Tokyo

The serial killer who preyed on school girls, drank their blood, and was dubbed the ‘cannibal nerd’ in the media, was executed Tuesday in Japan.

45-year-old Tsutomu Miyazaki, who was one of three death-row inmates who faced the gallows yesterday, was convicted in the kidnapping, molestation and murder of four girls between the ages of four and seven years old.

The crimes, which drew the outrage of the Japanese public, were even more horrific when it was revealed Miyazaki ate parts of the bodies of his victims and drank their blood.

During his trial, defense attorneys said Miyazaki was not competent to stand trial and that he had an insatiable appetite for pornography and manga comics. That discovery prompted the Japanese media to label him a “killer geek.”

The three hangings Tuesday confirmed that Japan’s new minister of justice, Kunio Hatoyama, intends to honors his pledge to uphold the tradition of capital punishment in the country.
