Luke Russert Delivers ‘Dad’s Last Speech’

Luke Russert delivered what he called “my dad’s last speech” at the funeral for Tim Russert on Wednesday. The 22-year-old said he questioned whether he should speak at his father’s funeral. “Well dad, I am the man for this job,” he said.

Tim Russert, who was known for being the host of NBC’s Meet The Press, suddenly died Friday of a heart attack at the age of 58.

Funeral services were held Wednesday in Washington, D.C. Luke began his speech saying, “My dad was my best friend.” He told mourners that “we are all a small part of a grand design” and he wouldn’t change his father being “called home to God.”

He ended his speech with his father’s famous phrase, “Let us all go get ‘em.”
