Carly Simon Speaks About Ex-Husband James Taylor, Denies Gay Rumors

Carly Simon denied gay rumors and spoke about her past bad relationship with James Taylor during an interview on the Howard Stern Show on Thursday.

Simon, who was accompanied by her son Ben, said she has not spoken to Taylor in over 20 years. The last time they had a disagreement was when Taylor, the father of her daughter, wouldn't allow Simon to use his bathroom during their daughter Sally's wedding, which was held at his house.

Simon, 62, said she thinks that Taylor thinks she is a lesbian, but that is not true although it piqued her interest at one time.

"Have I made love to a woman?  No," said Simon. "Now, I have been 'come on' to, but I was too uptight.  But I wish that I had.  I think that I’m too old for that (now).  I have a fantastic boyfriend now who’s almost a woman."

Simon said that she feels that Taylor's ex-wife and current wife were threatened by her and that contributes to the strain in their relationship. When Stern asked her what she would say if she could talk to him, Simon said that she would want to apologize and clear the air because she does miss him.

Simon and Taylor got married in 1972 and had two children together, Sarah Maria "Sally" and Ben, both of whom are musicians and political activists. The couple got divorced in 1983.

Simon is considered one of rock 'n roll's divas and her critically acclaimed works have earned her an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award and two Grammys. Her most famous song is "You're So Vain".

In other news, Simon placed her New York apartment on sale this week. The two-bedroom, two-bathroom duplex is being sold by Simon's sister, Joanna, an opera singer who also serves as Vice-President and broker at Fox Residential Group. The 1200-square foot apartment, which is located in Manhattan's West Village, is going for $3.8 million.
