Man's "cancer" turns out to be a pea plant

A Massachusetts man, Ron Sveden, went in for what he thought would be a cancer diagnosis. He came out with the knowledge that a pea plant had been growing in his lung. He had been battling emphysema for months. The 75-year-old ex teacher could not believe that a pea plant had grown to about half an inch in diameter in his lung. Sveden had been coughing endlessly and was admitted to the hospital where he found to have a collapsed lung. Sveden, his wife, and friends are handling the news with great senses of humor. Sveden joked about eating a meal after his surgery that included peas. He explains that a large amount of relief has accompanied the finding, since the pea plant is definitely not cancer.
