Taste of Chicago 2008 Begins Friday; Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder Will Perform

The Taste of Chicago Summerfest 2008, one of the world's largest outdoor festivals, begins this weekend on Friday, June 27.

The Taste of Chicago spans over 11 days, ending on July 6. The festival is known as one of the nation's premier celebrations for Fourth of July weekend. This year commemorates the 28th year of The Taste.

The Taste of Chicago 2008 will feature cuisine from 65 and more restaurants as more than three million people are expected to enjoy the festival in Chicago's Grant Park.

The admission for the Taste of Chicago is free, but there are fees to try the food and enjoy the amusement park rides that are offered.

The Taste opens up each morning at 11 a.m. CST, while ticket sales end at 8:30 p.m. CST, just 30 minutes before the Taste ends for the night. Ticket sales for July 3 and 4 end at 9:00 p.m. and the event closes at 9:30 p.m. On July 6th, the final day, Taste of Chicago closes at 6 p.m.

As far as entertainment, the Taste of Chicago 2008 announced that Chaka Khan and Stevie Wonder will perform at the Petrillo Music Shell. Angie Stone will open up for Chaka Khan, who happens to be a Chicago native.
