Narconon Drug Rehab Recognizes International Day

UN Office Campaign on Drugs and Crime Supported

On June 26th Narconon Drug Rehab of Georgia joins other Narconon Centers across the world to recognize the day determined by the United Nations to be “The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.”  With nearly 200 million people across the world abusing illicit drugs (according to the UNODC) June 26th is the day to bring the vast problem of drug abuse to light and bring hope to the world that there are solutions.

Narconon Drug Rehab of Georgia and other centers will be providing drug education to the community, clients and families in support of the UN Office Campaign on Drugs and Crime

The UNOD slogan is “ Do drugs control your life?  Your life.  Your community. No place for drugs.”  The UNODC also teamed up with a group of international teenagers to talk with educational experts about the dangers of drugs.  These questions and answers have been recorded as a series of radio interviews.

Narconon Drug Rehab is not alone in this endeavor to bring the message that there is hope. From Borneo to Vietnam campaigns are being launched by various organizations to encourage people to participate in drug abuse prevention.

A national campaign was launched in Vietnam on June 17, 2008 to coincide with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.  This campaign aimed to encourage people to participate in drug abuse prevention, help drug users to kick the habit and reduce the number of relapsed drug addicts.

In India, the Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol organized a campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs as part of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.  The week-long campaign, which concludes on June 26, features a mass rally to pledge to fight against drugs and alcohol, street corner meetings and poster campaigns.

Community groups and government agencies in Borne have planned a range of anti-drug activities such as a hill climb, treasure hunt, slogan intervention, the launch of a song, and a cleaning campaign in conjunction with the UN world wide event.  The Bangkok Post, one of Thailand’s major newspapers, began publishing a series of articles related to drug problems in Thailand to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Narconon Centers remain fully committed to assisting the United Nations in addressing this global problem and will be spreading the word broadly as they bring factual drug education to others.

Together, working side by side as individuals and communities, we can all make a difference.
