ThreadLess and Timbuk2 Collaborate for Personalized Fashion as Art

In today's fashion-forward society, personalization is an important virtue.  The producers of today's hottest fashions are the consumers themselves, thanks to new trends in internet clothing retail that allow for user developed clothing.  Web stores like ThreadLess and Timbuk2 not only embrace this trend, they are the driving forces in consumer-created clothing and accessories.  Mike Payne, editor of the mens buying guide magazine GearCrave.com, has watched these trends from their very beginning.

"Having lived not far from ThreadLess's old Ravenswood office in Chicago, I heard about their clothing early on". explained Payne.  "It instantly struck me as something revolutionary.  Their community designs, rates, and purchases these t-shirts while
Threadless acts as a facilitator.  They foster community, they drive creativity in consumers more than any other company I can think of."

As the voice of
GearCrave, Mike now deals with ThreadLess on a professional level, not just as a customer.  GearCrave is currently working with ThreadLess and the San Francisco-based maker of customizable messenger bags, Timbuk2.  ThreadLess and Timbuk2 have teamed up to create a line of messenger bags with work from ThreadLess artists.  They've announced this partnership by launching a giveaway with GearCrave.com for one each of the collaborative products.

"The
Timbuk2 bags are something else," Payne pointed out.  "As a cyclist, I've used Timbuk2's bags quite a bit.  They're spacious, reflective and nearly indestructible, the qualities anyone on a bike needs in the city.  These aren't just for cyclists, though-- their laptop bags and classic messenger bags are really stylish, well suited for any type of commuter, by car, bus, subway or foot."

Payne was not surprised when
ThreadLess and Timbuk2 joined together to release these bags.  "Not at all, its a logical progression for these two to work together.  Timbuk2 allows their customers to customize their own personal bag from the ground up.  Threadless's t-shirts are all user-submitted.  Its like the best parts of street/skate/urban fashion came together in one hell of a pretty collage."
