Academic summer camps have a place in a student’s summer is the message that Bobbi DePorter shared with a worldwide Internet radio audience on The Dr. Pat Show recently.
Ms. DePorter explained to the show’s listeners that the enrichment gained from just 10 days at SuperCamp can have profound and lasting effects on a student’s academic and personal life.
In the interview, Ms. DePorter cited the results reported in an extensive study of over 6,000 SuperCamp graduates. The study reported that 73 percent of students increased their grade point average in the school year following SuperCamp. Over 80 percent indicated they improved their confidence and self-esteem.
Among teen summer camps that focus on academic skills, SuperCamp is unique in a couple of ways. First, its curriculum includes life skills instruction, which many parents see as even more valuable than the new learning skills their teens acquire. Second, SuperCamp is so engaging, dynamic and interactive that the campers have a great time.
Ms. DePorter also informed listeners that, while many SuperCamp sessions already are full for this summer, some spots remain in several camps. She advised parents interested in SuperCamp for their sons and daughters to call the camp’s enrollment specialists at 800-285-3276 for assistance in finding the camp location and dates that work best for their respective families. Ms. DePorter also suggested parents visit the company website which provides information on all of SuperCamp’s summer camps.
SuperCamp operates camps at eight U.S. colleges across the country and has four distinct programs that are age- and grade-specific. The programs range from a seven-day camp for children entering grades 4 and 5 in the fall all the way up to a Quantum U program for incoming college students. In between, are a middle school program and one for high school students.
