Jimmy Johns Arrested on Drug Charges, Kicked off Alabama Team

Alabama linebacker Jimmy Johns was arrested on felony drug charges on Tuesday. As a result of his arrest, John was kicked off the football team.

Police say Johns was “pretty wide open” selling cocaine to students on the campus of University of Alabama. Johns tried to hide is involvement with drugs from his teammates. “He didn’t want them to know he was involved in it,” said Captain Jeff Snyder of the Narcotics Task Force.

Undercover officers purchased cocaine from Johns five times in the last 1 1/2 weeks. He was arrested at a gas station near his apartment, which is not on campus. A search of the apartment turned up 10 grams of cocaine and ecstasy pills.

Johns was dismissed from the football team almost immediately. “This type of behavior obviously will not be tolerated and he is no longer a part of our program,” said the Crimson Tide’s coach.

Johns was held in jail on $120,000 bond.
