Crib Recall Issued After 4 Babies Trapped

Nearly 320,000 Jardine cribs were recalled Tuesday after four babies became trapped between the slats and spindles. The spindles can break, enabling babies to get trapped in the gap. Two of the four children who became trapped suffered cuts and bruises. The Consumer Product Safety Commission reported 42 incidents of broken spindles.

The cribs were sold in Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us stores from January 2002 to May 2008.

“Anything that impacts the safety of children is of real importance. This agency will not hesitate to recall products that are defective and we take very, very seriously our responsibility to our youngest consumers: babies and toddlers,” said Nancy Nord of Consumer Safety Commission.
