Andrea Robinson, Environmental Activist, Hired as Director of Greening for DNC
Andrea Robinson, a longtime environmental activist, was hired last September by the Democratic National Convention to become its first-ever Director of Greening.
The Democrats are promoting their green initiative to better the environment, hiring Robinson, a staunch environmentalist, to specialize in making their pivotal event in
Robinson buried samples in a steaming compost heap in order to test whether celebratory balloons advertised as biodegradable actually will decompose. She hired an Official Carbon Adviser, who will measure the greenhouse-gas emissions of every placard, every plane trip, every appetizer prepared and every coffee cup tossed.
Robinson's goal is to reuse, recycle or compost at least 85% of all waste generated during the convention. She will have 900 volunteers (decked in green shirts) standing by the trashcans during the Convention to assure that all attendees throw every piece of trash into them.
The Democratic National Convention (DNC) will take place from August 25-28.
