Israel Accuses Palestinians of Firing Rocket Over Border

The fragile cease-fire agreed upon between Israel and Hamas continues to be tested and on Thursday that week-long peace deal took another hit as the Israeli army accused Palestinians of firing a rocket over the border from the Gaza Strip.

While Hamas controls much of the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip they have told Israel that they would not be able to control the actions of separate militant groups. Thursday’s rocket attack was claimed by al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades who said they were retaliating for Israeli violations to the truce. There were no reported injuries in the attack.

Those violations range from shooting at farmers and fishermen to closing the cargo crossings into Gaza, all counter to the agreements of the truce.

Israel has said they will continue to close crossings as long as rockets continue to be launched

Hamas has encouraged all groups to respect the cease-fire yet told Israel they would not act as their police.
