WTF North Carolina DMV Offers Replacement Plates for Motorists Bearing the Acronym

North Carolina motorists cruising around town with a license plate bearing the letter order “WTF” are now being offered the opportunity to replace the plate due to the common phrase associated with the three letters.

Apparently the North Carolina DMV was unaware many people used the three letters to abbreviate the phrase “what the f---“ and now nearly10,000 motorists have plates with the letters. The DMV has offered to change the plates at no cost.

To make matters worse for the NC DMV they had been using a “WTF-5505” plate as an example for their Web site.

WTF is commonly used among e-mailers and text messengers but has also become a common utterance among friends in public.
