China’s Health Ministry has determined that milk powder
did not cause four infant girls in Hubei province to grow breasts. The ministry
launched an investigation in to Synutra International after receiving claims
the company’s baby formula caused premature sexual development in the infants.
Last week Synutra CEO Liang Zhang defended the company in
a statement. “We do not add hormones to our products and we have invested
heavily in research, quality control, formulations and ingredients,” Zhang said.
