Missing 12-Year-Old Vermont Girl May Have Been Meeting Someone She Met Online

Brooke Bennett, the 12-year-old Vermont girl reported missing on Wednesday, may have lied to her family about going to meet a friend and met an individual she met online instead.

Bennett told her family that she was going to meet a friend at a convenience store and then go to a local hospital to see a friend. Her uncle dropped her off at the Randolph, VT store around 9:00 am and that was the last time she was seen.

A surveillance camera at the store showed Bennett exiting the vehicle and then walking away from the store.

Police are now analyzing a computer that Bennett had been using after her family told them she may have been using the social community site MySpace to communicate with someone that could be involved in the disappearance.

Searchers found items belonging to Bennett not far from the store she disappeared from. An Amber Alert was issued on Thursday.

Bennett is 4’11 and weighs 98 pounds. She was last seen wearing a pair of blue jeans, a pink sweater and white sneakers.
