Israel Closes Gaza Crossings as Rocket Fire from Palestinian Militants Continue

Israeli officials say border crossings with the Gaza Strip remained closed Friday for a third consecutive day as Palestinian militants continue to launch rocket attacks on southern Israel.

A fragile truce that went into effect June 19 has been strained by the continued attacks, although no injuries were reported in Friday’s rocket attacks.

Hamas leaders have urged militant factions to honor the cease-fire agreement and say they remain committed to the deal.

According to the Egyptian-brokered cease-fire agreement, Israel is required to ease its blockade of Gaza. Shipments into Gaza were halted earlier this week, although Israel claims it is allowing some fuel into the Hamas-ruled territory.
