Buellton’s newest residential development — the 44-unit Juliette Walk condominium project along West Highway 246 — appears to be continuing the North County’s long-term trend of providing housing for South Coast buyers.
Bill McReynolds, vice president for developer The Olson Co., told the Buellton Planning Commission last week that there are 13 units ready for sale, and eight of them have been sold. Two of the 13 units are designated as affordable housing.

All but one of the homes have been sold to buyers from the Goleta/Santa Barbara area, according to Dan Musgrove, sales counselor for the company. One unit has been bought by a Buellton resident.
At the meeting, the com- mission approved the developer’s request for additional signage at the site. McReynolds said more flags, a banner and a larger marketing sign are needed to generate sales traffic for the project at West Highway 246 and La Lata Drive.
A ceremonial ribbon cut- ting was held Wednesday, ahead of a grand opening scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The model homes on display will be a 1,564-square-foot unit with three bedrooms and 2.5 baths, and a 1,925-square-foot unit with four bedrooms and 3.5 baths. A third floor plan will have 1,925 square feet with four bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Prices range from $419,000 to $499,990.
The project eventually will be made up of seven buildings: a pair of seven-unit buildings and five six-unit buildings for a total of 44 units on the 2.3-acre site.
Included in the plans are seven units designated as affordable — four for very low income and three low income. Each unit comes with a two-car garage and a private patio.
All buildings are three stories tall but appear shorter because the garage is partially underground.
Two of the buildings will be parallel to Highway 246, while the remainder will be perpendicular to the highway
