Vogue Model Leaps from Manhattan Apartment in Apparent Suicide

A European Vogue model reportedly committed suicide on Saturday after leaping from her Manhattan apartment building in the middle of the afternoon.

Ruslana Korshunova, 20, had just recently returned to her home after working in Paris and witnesses said they saw her jump from her building on Water Street. A coroner ruled the death an apparent suicide and police have said there were no signs of violence in the apartment.

Korushnova was born in the former Soviet republic of Kazakhstan. When she was 15-years-old an article featuring a German language club in her town was published in All Asia magazine. That article, which included a photo of Korushnova, was seen by Debbie Jones of Models 1 and sh was eventually signed.

Korushnova went on to appear on the covers of both Elle and Vogue, in print ads for Blugirl by Blumarine, Ghost, Girbaud, Kenzo Accessories, Marithé & François, Moschino, Old England, Paul Smith and Vera Wang lingerie and appeared on the runway for designer such as Marc Jacobs and DKNY.
