Teen Hit by Roller Coaster, Decapitated at Six Flags Over Georgia

A teenager visiting Six Flags Over Georgia with his South Carolina church was decapitated on Saturday after he was struck by a roller coaster while walking in a restricted area on the park’s grounds

Asia Leeshawn Ferguson, 17, had made the trek to the amusement park with a group, including his parents, from the Oakley Spring Baptist Church near Springfield, S.C.

It remains unclear as to why Ferguson and a friend scaled two six-foot fences, passed by several warning signs and entered the marked restricted area near the “Batman the Ride” roller coaster. Some reports have been made indicating Ferguson had been trying to retrieve a hat that had fallen off earlier in the day while Cobb County Police have expressed a belief that the teens had left the park earlier and were attempting to re-enter.

“Batman the Ride” will remain closed until Monday while detectives investigate the accident.
