"Rock Band 2" To Be Released on XBox 360 in September
"Rock Band 2", the anticipated sequel of the hit video game "Rock Band", will be released in September, according to reports on Monday.
"Rock Band 2" will be released in September on XBox 360 first, according to publisher MTV Games and developer Harmonix. However, the official release date was not announced.
"Rock Band 2" will feature new instruments, online modes and songs, and will allow players to import their previously purchased "Rock Band" tunes.
MTV Games and Harmonix will debut "Rock Band 2" on Microsoft's Xbox 360 in September then make the game available for Sony's PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2 as well as Nintendo's Wii later in the year.
The original "Rock Band" was simultaneously released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 last November before later coming to the PlayStation 2 and Wii.
MTV Games and Harmonix are releasing 12 "Rock Band" songs on July 15 from The Who that all utilize the band's master recordings. The release coincides with the upcoming "VH1 Rock Honors" ceremony commemorating The Who.
In the world of music games, "Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock" has sold 2.5 million units while "Rock Band" has moved 1.3 million units. "Guitar Hero III" and "Rock Band" are in the top 10 for video game sales in 2008.
The two games have created a huge buzz, especially since "Guitar Hero" features Aerosmith's Slash on the cover and many Aerosmith songs are contained within the game's song list. Both games have fans searching for cheats, reviews and the complete song list for both games.
