A meeting between likely Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton is said to be in the works and could take place within the next few days.
According to Terry McAuliffe, chairman of Hillary Clinton’s failed Democratic presidential bid, Bill Clinton has been trying to squash the rumors that he bore a resentment towards Obama. Those rumors began circulating as the Democratic primary season was in full swing and Hillary and Barack were battling it out for the party’s nomination.
During some heated moments on the campaign trail Obama attacked the Clinton’s for their “politics as usual” persona while Hillary and Bill countered with questions about Barack’s leadership abilities and lack of experience.
The bantering led many in the media to paint the situation as a grudge and the story quickly evolved into Clinton refusing to support Obama after he earned the required delegate count for the Democratic nomination.
McAuliffe has insisted Clinton never expressed those sentiments and had actually released a statement in which he said he would do whatever was necessary to support Obama in his bid for the presidency.
