A Small Business Raises Large Funds, $100,000 For Charity

Steven Singer Sells 9/11 Commemorative Pins to raise funds for the Flight93 Memorial Fund

For the second year, Steven Singer, Steven Singer Jewelers will be putting his efforts and support, behind the Flight 93 Memorial Fund.  In 2009, Steven created the 9/11 Never Forget Pin.  The exclusive Steven Singer 9/11 design is available for a small donation of $10.  Supporters who receive this pin are urged to wear it as a display of their support for our country.  Dignitaries such as Governor Rendell, have pledged their support, and will wear the pin in hopes of raising money, and awareness to the memorial.  Pins can be purchased at Steven Singer Jewelers, located at 8th and Walnut in Center City Philadelphia, or online at http://www.stevensingerjewelers.com/.  100% of the proceeds, that is the full $10, will be donated to the Flight 93 National Memorial.

On September 11, 2009, just weeks after the initial debut of the pins, Steven proudly presented a $10,000 check to the Flight93 Memorial Fund and Governor Tom Ridge.  Shortly thereafter, donations reached an additional $30,000.  This year, the goal is to raise $100,000 to be presented on September 11, 2010.  This proves, a small business, can make a large difference.

The original announcement of the fundraising efforts by Steven Singer, took place on air with Michael Smerconish in the WPHT studios in Bala Cywyd, PA on the morning of August 27, 2009.  During the announcement, Steven told on air host Michael Smerconish, “Ever since the tragedy of 9/11 took place, I just felt so helpless.  I’m delighted to have such a great vehicle through your show to give back”.  Steven announced, “The full $10 of every donation is going to the Flight 93 National Memorial Fund.  We’re not making a dime.  If we sell 1,000, we’ll donate $10,000.  If we sell 10,000 pins we’ll be donating some serious money.”   And in 2010, 10,000 pins is a realistic goal.

Steven dreamed up the design of the pin while listening to Michael Smerconish of WPHT, 1210AM in Philadelphia.  Michael Smerconish was using the power of the mic to put together a fundraising effort to benefit the Flight 93 National Memorial Fund.  WPHT and Michael Smerconish took 500 listeners to the crash site of Flight 93 on September 11, 2009.  Steven Singer joined Michael on this trip, and presented the first $10,000 donation.
