Tiger Woods is high on U.S. captain Corey Pavin’s list to be one of his four picks for the Ryder Cup; Pavin has not decided on taking the world’s No. 1 player.
Woods who qualified for the American team failed to finish among the top eighth in the Ryder Cup standings tied for 28th at the PGA Championship. Woods finished nine shots behind Martin Kaymer at Whistling Straits and is currently 12th in the Ryder Cup standings.
In order to make the team Tiger Woods needed to finish at least in the top five. Opening with two birdies, but after a terrible stretch around the turn—Woods dropped four shots in three holes—he tied for 28th and shot a 73.
Woods has at least one more tournament to show Pavin that he is improving and according to what he saw last week at the PGA Woods has the desire to play in the Ryder Cup. Pavin has until September 7th to announce his picks.
The matches will be played in Wales on October 1-3rd, 2010.
