Phiengchai Sisouvanh Synhavong was in court Monday afternoon after being charged with the gruesome murder of Araceli Camacho Gomez in Kennewick, Washington.
Camacho Gomez, a 27-year old pregnant woman, was stabbed to death as Synhavong, 23, cut Camacho Gomez' unborn child out of her womb and trying to pass the baby off as her own.
Camacho Gomez was found dead around 1 a.m. Saturday with her hands and feet bound by yarn and "massive trauma to her stomach area," court documents said. She was 8 1/2 months pregnant.
The infant boy was recovered about two hours earlier and is on life support in critical condition at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane.
Sisouvanh Synhavong, who was arrested late Friday, is expected to be arraigned Wednesday morning. If convicted, she faces life in prison without parole or prosecutors could seek the death penalty.
Sisouvanh Synhavong called 911 emergency dispatch at 11:04 p.m. on Friday, saying she was by JCPenney and had just given birth but thought the baby had died. However, police traced the call to Columbia Park in Kennewick.
Court documents said officers found the blood-soaked mechanic's gloves, box cutter, bloody paper towels, yarn, latex gloves, mucus bulb, baby bottle and baby socks in Sisouvanh Synhavong's purse.
Camacho Gomez's husband, Juan Campos Felipe, reported her missing around 10 p.m. after he returned to the house from grocery shopping with their two children and found the front door open with her not home.
Family and friends told the Mid-Columbia Tri-City Herald that a woman met Camacho Gomez on the bus Friday and offered to give her some baby clothes. Camacho Gomez told the woman that she was due in two weeks and that she was having a boy. She then gave the woman her address and name after she offered to give Camacho Gomez baby clothes for her newborn.
