Nearly One Fifth of Pakistan Covered with Water

After two weeks of heavy rains, nearly one-fifth of Pakistan is submerged under flood water. The death toll is over 1,400. Dozens of villages have been destroyed and about 900,000 homes have been damaged.

Officials now fear the lack of clean drinking water could lead to an outbreak of deadly diseases such as typhoid, dysentery, hepatitis and cholera.
