Former Israeli soldier posts offensive pictures on Facebook

Eden Aberjil faces backlash for pictures, but she denies trying to offend anybody.

The 26 year old Israeli woman, Eden Aberjil, served in the army until her mandatory military service was complete, but remembers the army days to be the best in her life. It was with this in mind that she posted pictures from her time in the army on Facebook. Among these pictures were some of Aberjil smiling next to 3 blindfolded Palestinian soldiers.

Aberjil claims she received death threats in response to these photos, but that she is unshaken by the threats. She believes she did nothing wrong by posting the pictures and that the prisoners were treated well. According to her, Aberjil says the photos were just to remember the experiences she had in the army.

The army condemns her behavior, saying it is a bad example of the Israeli Defense Force's ethical standards. Aberjil expresses disappointment in the army's response to her actions. She denies that the pictures were any kind of political statement. However, many people, including Palestian groups and Israeli anti-torture activists, find the images disturbing and humiliating.

The pictures have since been removed from Facebook because they were reported.
