Southwest Flight Attendant Took Baby From Parents After Child was Slapped

A Southwest Airlines flight attendant temporarily took a 13-month-old baby girl from her parents after witnessing the mother slap the child in the face.

The incident happened on a flight from Dallas, Texas to Albuquerque. The flight attendant told authorities she saw the woman “strike the child with an open hand on the face” because the child would not stop crying. The woman also allegedly slapped the child’s legs and yelled at her to be quiet. The husband was reportedly yelling at his wife for her to be quiet.

The flight attendant stepped in to calm the child and parents down. Southwest Airlines contacted authorities to question the Georgia couple upon landing. The couple was released after medical personnel examined the child.

The woman told police she slapped her daughter after the child kicked her. She also said she put a finger in the child’s mouth to get her to be quiet.

The girl had a black eye, which the couple claimed was from a dog bite.
