Man Arrested After Bomb Threat at LAX Airport

A man was arrested in Los Angeles International (LAX) Airport after giving police officers a bomb threat, thus closing the airport for hours.

The man walked up the upper-level road at the west end of LAX, claiming to be a terrorist and saying that he had a bomb in the airport.

The upper-level and lower-level roads on the west end of LAX were immediately closed after the bomb threat. Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) bomb specialists examined the black bag the man was carrying and described what was inside as "junk".

Six flights were delayed at the terminals because passengers had difficulties reaching them.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is the fifth-busiest airport in the world and is the largest airport in the Greater LA area. It serves as the major hub for United Airlines and is a "mini-hub" for American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and Southwest Airlines.
