Florida Gov. Charlie Crist and Carole Rome Engaged

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist and girlfriend Carole Rome are now engaged after the Sunshine State’s most eligible bachelor popped the question Thursday morning at his St. Petersburg apartment.

Crist, 51, has been married once before but that marriage ended 30 years ago. He met Rome, 38, last September while in New York. Coincidentally she had been visiting New York at the time, having moved to Miami in 2006. Rome is president of her family’s costume business, Franco American Novelty Co.

Rome has two daughters from a previous marriage.
