Iran Responds to Incentives Offering for Halting Uranium Enrichment

Iran has reportedly responded to an incentives offer delivered by the European Union, United Kingdom, United States, China, Russia and France yet the nature of the response has yet to be made known.

EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana had delivered the latest incentives package in June as a means of convincing Iran to halt their uranium enrichment program. That offer included a promise that the UN sanctions currently imposed on Iran would be frozen.

Iran has denied the popularly held belief that they are developing nuclear weapons and has refused to halt their program.

The incentives package was said to include recognition that Iran had the right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and agreed to assist Iran in the development of nuclear power stations.
