At Least Eight Policemen Killed in Suicide Blast Near Market in Pakistan

At least eight policemen were killed and scores injured after a suicide bomber detonated an explosive near a major market in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The blast comes one year after a deadly siege at the Red Mosque in Islamabad where more than 100 people were killed in the fighting.

On Sunday the suicide bomber targeted a police station that sat just outside the Melody Market.

Several thousand Islamists had gathered near the Red Mosque to mark the anniversary and there was a large police contingent monitoring the rally. Shortly after the rally broke the suicide bomber struck.
