Malaysian Police Launch International Hunt for Private Investigator

Malaysian police have launched an international manhunt in search of a private investigator who had accused a high-ranking official of having a sexual relationship with a model.

The investigator, Balasubramaniam Perumal, had accused Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak of having sex with a Mongolian model, Altantuya Shaariibuu. She was later found dead with two gunshot wounds to her head and remains had been blown up with plastic explosives.

Razak has denied any relationship with Shaariibuu. A political advisor for Razak is currently on trial, accused of assisting in the 2006 murder.

On Friday Perumal retracted his allegation and then disappeared along with his wife and children.

Police believe the investigator is in hiding and have guaranteed his safety if he comes forward.
