Pamplona’s Running of the Bulls Day One: One Dead, Nine Injured on Opening Day

One person has died and nine people were left injured following the first day of Pamplona’s annual running of the bulls.

According to police a 23-year-old man from Ireland died after falling from a wall during late night celebrations Sunday night. His death was not attributed to the actual running of the bulls but the nine who suffered injuries, mainly cuts and bruises were hurt during the running.

The nine-day affair is begun each morning with the release of several bulls and steers in the narrow streets of Pamplona. As the bulls rush through the streets thousands of revelers run in front of and alongside the beasts.
