Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) has reportedly expressed a willingness to reignite talks with Yahoo Inc. (NASDAQ: YHOO) but would only do so if a new board of directors was put in place following next month’s annual meeting.
The Microsoft and Yahoo had been involved in talks two months ago but could not come to an agreement on a figure. Microsoft eventually pulled its offer of $47.5 billion, a figure many inside Yahoo felt undervalued the company.
While the board of directors expressed that sentiment many of their investors expressed the opposite belief, chief among them Carl Icahn. Icahn was highly critical of Yahoo co-founder and CEO Jerry Yang and has urged shareholders to push for a takeover.
