Wyclef Jean Not Approved to Run for President of Haiti

A Haitian electoral official tells the Los Angeles times that singer Wyclef Jean did not meet legal requirements to run in the presidential election; therefore his name is not on a list of approved candidates.

"He is not on the list as I speak," said the unidentified official.

Jean announced his intentions to run for president of Haiti on Larry King Live earlier this month. The former Fugees star was born in Haiti, but left the country at the age of 9. Jean has not commented.
