Hurricane Bertha Strengthens, First Hurricane of Atlantic Season

Hurricane Bertha continues to gain strength as moves over the Atlantic Ocean. Reports say the storm was about 775 miles east of the Leeward Islands as of 11 a.m. Monday. The National Hurricane Center says Bertha, the first hurricane of the Atlantic Season, is expected to turn towards Bermuda.

It is unclear if Bermuda will be hit, but the Center is urging residents to watch the storm carefully.

Bertha has sustained winds up to 90 mph and may become a category 2 hurricane by Monday evening.
