G8 Summit Talks to Focus on Climate and Global Economy on Day Two

Day two of the Group of Eight Summit is expected to focus primarily on climate change and the global economy, one day after the world leaders discussed the rising cost of food and oil.

The G8 members, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia and the United States, are meeting in Japan as part of their annual gathering to discuss global issues and work towards creating agreements that will foster growth and preservation.

Tuesday’s talks will likely address biofuels and the effects they have on the ever increasing price of food. Many have expressed the belief that richer nations should be growing more food for the poor rather than for the alternative energy source.

The eight member nations have been joined by a host of other countries invited to participate in the summit.
