North Korea Nuclear Program Talks to Resume

Summit talks focusing on North Korea’s nuclear program are set to resume later this week. After a nine-month hiatus, representatives from the six nations participating in the discussions are set to meet in Beijing.

Details of North Korea’s secretive nuclear program were released last month as an initial response to the six-party talks. A day later, North Korea took a highly visible step toward dismantling a prominent nuclear facility when it destroyed the water cooling tower at its Yongbyon plant.

The six-party talks include China, Russia, Japan, North Korea, South Korea and the United States.
