Human Foot in Shoe Washes Up on Swedish Beach

A human foot inside a shoe washed up Tuesday on a beach near the southwest coast of Sweden.

Police described the grizzly discovery of a shoe “containing a sock, with a foot inside it.” The discovery was made along the beach near one of the country’s most popular tourist resorts.

Swedish police are checking the foot against a national registry of missing people.

The discovery is eerily similar to recent findings in Canada, where five running shoes containing human feet have washed up along the Strait of Georgia. Authorities there have speculated the discoveries may be the remains of passengers who were aboard a small airplane when it crashed in the vicinity.
