'Howard Stern' Bikini Teacher Marie Jarry Sues Conn. School

Marie Jarry, a former second grade teacher, is suing her elementary school for her job after they fired her over a bikini photo she took on the "Howard Stern Show."

Jarry, a teacher at the Thalberg School in Southington, CT, took a paid sick day to appear on the "Howard Stern Show" on SIRIUS Radio. She and her husband appeared on the shock jock's show on May 1 and participated in a contest called "Ugliest Guy, Hottest Wife." They won it and a $5,000 prize.

Soon after winning the contest, a picture of her in a bikini as she stood next to her husband appeared on the Internet and sparked a lot of controversy.

The suit was filed June 27 in U.S. District Court in Hartford and claims Jarry was denied due process, including the right to contest any charges against her.

Jarry is demanding that she be reinstated and receive back pay from when she resigned. The lawsuit was filed against the board of education, Superintendent of Schools Joseph Erardi and the Southington Education Association, which is the teachers union.

According to the lawsuit, Jarry went to work on May 2 and heard nothing about the incident. However, on May 5, the principal at Thalberg ordered her not to go to her classroom and to meet with Erardi later that day. Erardi told her that she broke a morality clause in her contract and forced her to resign or she will lose her teacher's certificate.
