The 52-year-old was taken from an
Jeffs, the leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was sentenced in November to two consecutive terms of five years to life in prison after being convicted of two counts of being an accomplice to rape. The charges stemmed from a marriage her performed in 2001.
While awaiting sentencing on the rape-accomplice charges, Jeffs attempted to commit suicide by hanging himself in his cell. He also refused to eat or drink and developed ulcers on his knees from praying for hours.
