Georgia Man Dies after Being Served Shellfish Dish at Ruby Tuesday

A Georgia man who dined out with his family at a Ruby Tuesday died last week after he was served a meal containing crab meat.

Rodney Hawkins, 35, had a shellfish allergy and when he was served Chicken Oscar the crab meat that was included in the meal sent him into anaphylactic shock. According to his family, Hawkins did not order the Chicken Oscar but rather the Chicken Fresco, a dish that contained no shellfish.

A spokesman for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation indicated that Ruby Tuesday inadvertently delivered the wrong meal to Hawkins yet the restaurant chain has denied any wrongdoing and has claimed Hawkins ordered the Chicken Oscar knowing it was served with crab meat.
