Previously, Workamper job fairs would be held at a certain location a couple times a year. Employers would have to pay to travel, pay to stay in a hotel, pay for food, pay for booth space, pay for additional brochures/handouts, and the list goes on and on. Workamper News is helping out the employer's pocket book by starting Jobinars this July, 2008.
Jobinars are online job fairs that employers can do sitting comfortably in their office chair. When an employer holds a job fair, they will be able to present their employment opportunities to Workampers who have registered specifically to learn about that employer. All the presenter and participants need is an Internet connection and an available phone line.
"Doing this type of program instead of on-location job fairs will give employers a chance to advertise to the right crowd, although it may be a smaller crowd," said Steve Anderson, editor of Workamper News. "Employers can set up a pre-registration survey for participants to help eliminate the folks who may not be right for the position they are advertising. It will save them money in the long run."
Another positive about holding online job fairs is that it allows more employers to participate. "When we held the on-location job fairs in the past, smaller mom-and-pop employers could not afford to participate," said Anderson. "With the Jobinar program, employers can set a budget and have a more affordable way to find great Workampers for their upcoming season." Employers will pay a base rate and a fee for each attendee. They have the option of a 15, 30, 45 or 60 minute session.
"I think Jobinars will be a great way to connect with potential Workampers that will save them and us the expense of traveling to far away job fairs," said Jon Sanders, National Sales Manager for Air Photo Inc. who has been an active advertiser in Workamper News for many years. "I expect to get more exposure to those who were never able to make it in person to previous fairs."
Workamper subscribers to Workamper News can participate in Jobinars at no extra cost. "It's just another benefit we want to offer our subscribers to help them make the right decision for their next Workamping experience," said Anderson. There will be job fair days where multiple employers will be holding Jobinars throughout the day, but employers can present a Jobinar any time that works best for them.
New Jobinars will be posted on the Webinar/Jobinar page at www.workamper.com with a link to the registration page.
