Canadian Model Murder Suspect Arrested in China

A Canadian model found murdered in her Shanghai apartment was killed by an 18-year-old Chinese man who had been following her, according to a statement issued by police Friday.

Diana O’Brien, 22, worked as a model for a small Shanghai-based agency and had been in the city less than two weeks when her body was found Monday. Police have not released details of her death, but a witness to the scene said O’Brien appeared to have been stabbed.

Shanghai police reported the suspect, Chen Jun, confessed to killing the Canadian model. He was in possession of O’Brien’s laptop and other belongings at the time of his arrest.

The killing of a foreigner so close to the Aug. 8 opening of the Beijing Olympic Games had police working quickly to resolve the case.
