Bodies of Two US Soldiers, Missing in Iraq for Over a Year, Found

The bodies of two U.S. soldiers missing in Iraq for over a year have been identified, according to a spokesman for the families.

Army Sgt. Alex Jimenez of Lawrence, Mass. and Pvt. Byron W. Fouty of Waterford, Mich. have been missing since May 12, 2007 when their army battalion was ambushed in Bagdhad. Military officials informed the families Thursday the bodies of the two soldiers had been recovered.

The body of a third soldier kidnapped during the raid, Pfc. Joseph Anzack Jr. of Torrance, Calif., was discovered more than a year ago, less than two weeks after the attack that claimed the lives of four others from the same unit.

The soldiers were from Company D, 4^th Battalion, 31^st Infantry Regiment – nicknamed the “Polar Bears.”
