At Least 8 U.S. Soldiers Killed in Clashes with Taliban Militants in Afghanistan

The United States suffered one of its heaviest single day losses after at least eight soldiers were killed in clashes with Taliban militants in north-east Afghanistan.

International and Afghan forces have been battling Taliban-backed militants on several fronts along the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The U.S. soldiers were said to have been attacked in Dara-l-Pech in the district of Kunar Province. The militants reportedly used rocket propelled grenades, machine guns and mortars in the attack. A number of civilians were said to have been killed in the attack as well.
