Accused Terrorists Admit Involvement in Plot to Blow Up Transatlantic Planes

Three of the eight men arrested following the discovery of a plot to explode several transatlantic planes in 2006 have admitted to their involvement yet have denied more serious charges of conspiring to commit murder.

Abdulla Ahmed Ali, Assad Sarwar and Tanvir Hussain admitted in a UK court that they had conspired in the attack and had taken part in videos that broadcasted bomb threats.

According to prosecutors the men were part of a plot that intended to blow up several planes leaving from Heathrow to North America. Those bombs were to be disguised as soft drinks and then carried on board the flights.

When the eight men were arrested in August 2006 they were said to have had enough materials to make at last 20 bombs.
